OVER 1.5 MILLION DOLLARS RAISED BY PALM BEACH RESIDENTS FOR LAKE DRIVE PARK

Event Continues to Draw Support From Island Residents

A by-invitation only reception to educate residents about the upcoming Lake Drive Park was held at the home of Diana and Llwyd Ecclestone, “Villa Artemis” on Sunday, May 16^th.  The generous support from attendees has triggered an overwhelming response from island residents resulting in over $1.5 Million dollars raised to date.

Internationally recognized Interior Designer, Scott Snyder hosted the event, attracting many residents to learn more about the renovation plans for Lake Drive Park, which is located adjacent to the magnificent Palm Beach Marina. “This gateway park to the island will be a beautiful complement to the stunning landscape that embodies Palm Beach,” said Snyder.

Renowned Landscape Architect, Keith Williams, of Nievera Williams Design, has thoughtfully designed plans for the park, using eco-friendly plantings and materials. Williams has kindly donated his time and creativity which equals a gift of $300,000.

Jay Boodheshwar, Deputy Town Manager, said “The Town of Palm Beach is deeply appreciative of Scott’s generosity with both his financial gift towards the project as well as the time he is investing to ensure the community receives an upgraded public space that is reflective of the quality that Palm Beach is known for.  Scott has been very giving of his time and talents over the years and I am grateful to be working with him on yet another beautification project for this special community.”

Snyder remarked, “I’m delighted that so many residents and friends will generously support these town improvement projects. My philosophy has always been, as we take so much pleasure in our community, we need to remember to give back and nourish it.”

Momentum for the park quickly got underway, as Felicia Taylor asked guests to show their willingness to “give back” to their island home. In historic style, residents donated a substantial portion of the monies needed to finance the park.

Amongst the largest donors: the visionary Steve Schwarzman pledged to fund all of the Pathways leading to the Marina and the Lake Trail. Missy and Eduardo de Guardiola graciously committed to The South Lake Drive Walkway; Jacelyn and Jack Botti have munificently offered to fund the Peruvian Lawn and Australian bike racks.  The dog fountains have been underwritten by James Berwind and Kevin Clark, Mayor Danielle Moore has pledged to build the flag pole. The Gruss Foundation, Scott Snyder, Lesly S. Smith, The Fortin Foundation of Florida,  and Helen and Charles Schwab have all gifted donations to be used as needed to see this project to fruition.

There are still opportunities to support the park as not all monies have been raised to meet the estimated cost. But there are a number of pledges still pending that will soon be finalized.
