Gala kicked off Nation’s Largest Outdoor Museum

A crowd of more than 300 art enthusiasts, celebrities and socialites attended the exclusive gala and after-party for CANVAS, the outdoor museum show, that is gearing up for its second year using Downtown West Palm Beach as it’s “cultural canvas” on November 11-20.  The party took place October 22 at the CANVAS VIP Pop-up Lounge at 1016 Clare Avenue in West Palm Beach.  The event was co-chaired by Bettina Anderson, Lizzi Bickford and Chris Leavitt of Million Dollar listing fame.

DJ Adam Lipson kept the energy upbeat throughout the night with special performances by Sean’s Dance Factory and four-time Grammy nominee, Ja Rule.

Guests enjoyed drinks courtesy of Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Perrier® Sparkling Natural Mineral Water and a sit-down dinner from Wellington Hospitality Group.  Proceeds from the event benefit CANVAS Art Charities, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding visual arts to enrich public spaces and foster social and economic outcomes.

The competition was fierce during the live auction as guests had the chance to bid on sought after items including a Cuba Experience trip hosted by CANVAS founder, Nicole Henry; a one-week lease of the newest, sleekest, Aston Martin; a VIP package to the Kentucky Derby; and tickets for two to Hamilton with five-star accommodations at The Plaza Hotel, just to name a few of the outstanding items available for bid. Ja Rule went home with a one-of-a-kind original painting by Pipsqueak Was Here!!!, part of the 2016 official CANVAS artist lineup.

Tori Eversmann, author of ‘The Immortals’ will be at Meat Market Palm Beach for a book signing Tuesday, November 15th. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet her husband, First Sergeant Matt Eversmann, who was immortalized in the epic film Black Hawk Down  and inspired the lead character in her book.

A portion of proceeds raised at the event from book sales or dinner will benefit American Humane- American Humane provides a) lifesaving service dogs to veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress;b) protects America’s hard-working military dogs and recognizes their heroic contributions to our country- both on and off the battlefield.

I had the pleasure of meeting this talented author and her honorable husband on several occasions. Extremely impressed by an inexplicable bond between the two of them, I purchased a copy of The Immortals .  It was not only entertaining but enlightening to realize how little we know about the challenges faced by the family members left behind.

About the Immortals:

Eversmann’s semi-autobiographical character, Calli Coleman, abruptly lands in the role of Army wife in provincial Sackets Harbor, New York, when her husband is recalled to active military duty during the Iraq War. Calli and her young family face the adversity of transitioning to their new military life and the complicated social hierarchy that goes with it. Uprooted from their hometown, family and friends, their new life as an Army family becomes even more unsettling when Calli learns that her husband will soon be deployed to Iraq.

“New friendships sustain Calli through loneliness and the ever-present specter of widowhood. ‘The Immortals’ is an examination of marriage, friendship, war and death,” said Eversmann.

Tori received her B.A. in English/Creative Writing from Skidmore College and currently lives in West Palm Beach with her husband, daughter, two dogs and two cats.

I’m one of those women who refuse to use a needle for anything other than as a required vaccine when traveling to an exotic destination or to mend a button.  So when my dear friend Melissa Peverini introduced me to Fillerina, a topical alternative to filler injections so many of my friends had been using for years, I was intrigued..

I targeted my deepest crevices with the precision applicator filled with the dose of topical Swiss Patent hyaluronic acid formula gel, followed by the nourishing film, drank two glasses of water nightly for 2 weeks and was hooked!  I proceeded to order the day, night and eye creams which I use regularly.

It’s now been over 2 months and I continue to receive comments on how much younger I look.. If you have any questions feel free to email Melissa at Melissa.Peverini@fillerinausa.com
