Code Coco: More than a watch, a jewel inspired by the codes of Chanel
The clasp, the Quilt and the Diamond
An extremely rare and exclusive Chanel watch collection is making its Palm Beach debut during the Annual International Watch Fair at Hamilton Jewelers. A highlight of the show is Code Coco, featured above.
Code Coco incorporates Chanel’s
three iconic attributes: the clasp, the quilt and the diamond. The Clasp is named Mademoiselle. It comes from the 2.55 handbag, and seals the watch with an exclusive flourish. The Quilted motif has been a Chanel emblem since 1955. The chocolate motif criss-crosses suits in fashion shows and on handbags, watches and jewelry.
Of all gemstones, the Diamond was Gabrielle Chanel’s favorite. She loved the graphic beauty and clarity of the diamond. In her own words: “If I have chosen the diamond, it is because it represents, in its density, the greatest value in the smallest volume.”

You can find the markings denoting the water resistance of the watch either on the dial or on the back of the case. Generally, a good rule of thumb is if a watch isn’t water resistant to at least 50 or 100 feet it shouldn’t go in a pool. For instance, if a watch is water resistant to 30 feet, it may not have water-tight gaskets or screw-in crowns, and water could seep inside when the watch is exposed to pressure or direct flow.
