Alvin Valley

Alvin Valley, also known as “The King of Pants”, has reigned over women’s fashion in 400 stores around the world. His impressive following has also served as his inspiration.

“I was inspired by Oscar Wilde’s novel, Dorian Gray. It was a social observation, and I had tons of fun doing it. Just as Basil Hallward is infatuated by Dorian, I am constantly pulling inspiration from the impressive women I surround myself with. Women such as Kirsten Green, Marissa Mayer, Alexandra von Furstenberg, Eva Lorenzotti, Alexandra Wilkis, Lauren Santo Domingo and Lauren Remington Platt, all of whom are trailblazers within their respective industries, act as my muses, and I am the painter,” says Valley whose first clients were among the young jet set crowd including Lourdes Fanjul and Carolina de Nuefville.

His designs have evolved since its beginnings in 2001 to keep up with the modern woman’s lifestyle. Each collection never fails to emphasize beautiful silhouettes. The Fall 2015 Collection experiments with the different dimensions of refined fashion. More volume, dimension, layers, and movement are some of the features to expect with his pant suit line. Keeping with the season, the color palette emulates the warmth of precious stones- tourmaline, sapphire, and amethyst paired with navy, grays and black.

Creating one-of-a-kind personalized sandals to reflect a woman’s individual style and personality.

Perfect Holiday gift: A Taste of Capri

Their Story:

When Francesco Pasta, a native of Capri and artisan of custom handmade Caprese sandals, met his future bride Jessica, during a shopping excursion, he hadn’t a clue he would end up on Worth Avenue 15 years later! Jessica and her mother took a ferry from Naples to the island paradise. Shopping may have been in their mind- but love was in the air!

Falling in love with the sandals, led to long distance communication which eventually led to Jessica moving to Capri, then Francesco following her to Chicago where they created a mobile business and thankfully for us, culminating in Palm Beach! To read more about the romantic details visit the Shiny Sheet article published earlier this month,Perfect fit: Italian sandal shop brings touch of Capri to Worth Avenue”.

“I was thrilled to discover Via Capri, 34 while strolling the avenue! I don’t need to wait to go to Capri in the summer to place my order,” says Marzia Precoda who has begun to spread the word among her friends.

Francesco Pasta, of Via Capri, 34, is an artisan of custom handmade Caprese sandals. Italian born and raised, he learned his craft in 2001 on the Island of Capri, Italy. This 100 year old tradition on Capri has captured the attention of travelers from around the world. Like sipping chilled limoncello made from the lemons of Capri to swimming in the Blue Grotto, authentic Caprese sandals are a staple when visiting this beautiful paradise in the Mediterranean.

Your Experience:

Worth Avenue is home to the first Via Capri, 34 store. The ambiance of this store was designed to give the sense of Capri from its attention to detail. As a designer and cobbler of custom handmade sandals for over 15 years, Francesco focused on the customer experience.

Via Capri, 34 is a symbol of precision and craftsmanship. Via Capri, 34 sandals are made with genuine Italian leather soles and adorned with the choice of a variety of pigmented leathers, Swarovski crystals snake skin and precious metals. Via Capri, 34 sandals are custom handmade to order giving each woman the opportunity to “design” a pair of sandals that reflects their individual style and personality.

From the decor, to the service and, most importantly, to the quality of your Via Capri, 34 sandals, it will be an experience you won’t soon forget. Take a moment to explore the undeniable beauty of Capri and indulge in a memorable Caprese tradition.

Visiting the Store is a MUST for all of us with good taste and who appreciate quality. Remember to inquire about the Holiday Gift Card.

The men’s collection boasts vibrant colors and whimsical yet classic aesthetics. Her inspirations are in part attributed to her family as she is the granddaughter of Enrique Rousseau, who was married to the renowned designer Lilly Pulitzer. Boalt’s early career included a position as a buyer for Ralph Lauren, which she says continues to inspire the timeless look of the menswear.

You won’t find Strong Boalt in any of the mainstream venues of the fashion industry. The men’s collection is concentrated on beautiful destinations, resorts, clubs and golf shops around the world. Click Here to find a boutique near you.

You may have seen Wyatt Koch at one of Palm Beach’s elite events carrying the dance floor dressed to the nines, playing tennis at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, or enjoying the serenity of his farm in Florida. Palm Beach has taken notice of Wyatt’s charm and bold fashion sense since he moved here from New York City in 2006. Today, the son of renowned businessman William (Bill) Koch has some big news to announce coming up this winter. Altima sat down with Wyatt for a Q&A and we are excited to share it with our readers!

Altima: What events do you look forward to the most each season?
Wyatt: GOG Halloween Party, Lily Pulitzer Beach Bash, Paradise Casino Gala, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Gala, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Man & Woman of the Year, and of course, POSH Palm Beach, which I will co-chair this year.

Altima: Where do you enjoy spending your weekends in Palm Beach?
Wyatt:  I like to get out to my farm on weekends. When I am in town, I like to play tennis at Mar-a-Lago, shop on Worth Avenue, grab lunch at Nick & Johnnie’s, Café Sapori or Bice, or just relax at the beach.

Altima: What are your Top 3 restaurants on the island?
Wyatt: Café L’ Europe, Echo and Palm Beach Grill.

Altima: What is your favorite store on Worth Ave?
Wyatt: Neiman Marcus, and my sales associate, Michael Diaz, is great.

Altima: We heard that you have some big news coming up in December 2015. Care to dish with Altima readers?
Wyatt: I have recently decided to pursue my lifelong passion for fashion by starting a fashion line. Wyatt Ingraham LLC was launched a few months ago.  We are very excited about the upcoming line of men’s shirts.  I am also excited that 10% of all profits will be donated to charity.  You can learn more about the clothing line and my inspirations at www.wyattingraham.com

Altima: What should we expect from your first collection?
Wyatt: The first collection will be exclusively men’s shirts.  We have a fabulous line about to be released, with bold colors and inspired patterns.  These are high quality, American made shirts for the impeccably dressed man.  These shirts will grab attention and inspire the men who wear them to be bold.

Stay tuned, we plan to follow-up with Wyatt in a few months when he officially débuts Wyatt Ingraham!

Designs coming soon to www.wyattingraham.com.

Christine Festa | Yoga Pose

Christine Festa | Mermaid Yoga Pose

Yogis are everywhere! In the studio, on the beach, at the park, perched on a mountain top, and in homes. People are taking this relaxation practice everywhere they go. It is a way to disconnect with your common life distractions (work, school, family) and connect with your inner-self.  How much better is it when an experienced yoga instructor comes to you, understands your needs and creates a tailor-made itinerary?

I recently experienced a tailor-made session with Christine Festa with Movement Yoga and Wellness who takes her mobile studio on the road.

‘She zenned me out.’

With the holiday season quickly approaching (The Christmas and Hanukkah decorations are already in department stores- TOO SOON!) I know it would behoove me to adopt a de-stressing routine to be my best self for the most wonderful time of the year. It can be hard to find the right methods which fit your needs, so it is helpful (and much safer) to hire an expert who can help you achieve the best results for your mind, body and soul!

We know this is a huge deal at Altima! With the hectic schedule of our season, I have to be reminded by my kids  to JUST BREATHE!

Yoga offers a slew of benefits you may not have even thought of including strength building, flexibility, balance, and mindfulness.

Science has shown that bringing the body into relaxation can alter your response to stress not only on an emotional level, but a physical one too.

Christine Festa is a certified yoga instructor and founder and owner of  Movement Yoga and Wellness, A Mobile Yoga Studio in South Florida. You can contact her at 561-396-9791 or christine@movement.yoga to set up your private session.

Thanks to my good friends Richard and Diana Horowitz, I found a treasure in my own backyard!  Montecristi hand made hats by fifth generation master weaver Yovanni Mero Pachay “These hats are not only the real deal,” says Richie Horowitz, “they are a fabulous deal! I’ve bought many Montecristi hats over the years, and these prices are more than half of what I paid in St. Bart’s and London.”

A long-time favorite for chic world travelers, Montecristi hats’ fine weaving allows it to be rolled and packed in its signature box.   A selection will be available at Lars and Nadine Bolander’s Studio 1696, and later this season on Worth Avenue. In the meantime, Frances deSantos, Yovanni’s personal friend and Florida representative, has a wide variety of these authentic “Panama Hats” ranging in prices from $95 to thousands of dollars.

Trivia information:  Why are they called Panama Hats?

Legend has it that President Theodore Roosevelt brought the hats to popularity in North America when photos were taken of him wearing one while visiting Panama. But that’s not the only story. As the hats were shipped through the Isthmus canal in Panama before they hit the shores around the world, someone mistakenly thought the hats came from the country famous for its canal. Who knew one person’s misunderstanding would lead to the rest of the world following suit?
