Mary Mahoney and Black River Caviar give back to Hope For Depression Foundation through the Holiday Season

Black River Caviar and Worth Avenue’s Mary Mahoney have joined forces to support Hope for Depression Research Foundation this holiday season,  following a highly successful kick off for the upcoming inaugural Palm Beach Race of Hope.  The kick off event was hosted by HDRF Founder and Chair Audrey Gruss and co-chair Scott Snyder, at Sant Ambroeus on Friday, December 7th.

A festive cocktail for over 200 guests was followed by a by-invitation only dinner for committee members, patrons and sponsors.  Once guests were seated, Audrey and Scott welcomed them, thanked them for their support, and introduced the evening’s top sponsor, Graham Gaspard, CEO of Black River Caviar.  The guests savored a Black River Caviar sampler of: Tradition Oscietra with toasted brioche and creme fraiche, Royale Oscietra with quail egg and creme fraiche, and Imperial Oscietra on blini and mashed potato, paired with prosecco. Each guest was gifted a mother of pearl caviar spoon and black velvet pouch to take home.

Guests were invited to place orders and promised 50% of proceeds from orders placed that night would be donated to HDRF;  Over $8,000 was raised for the cause that evening, and inquiries continue to come in for orders.

Due to the overwhelming response from locals supporting this great cause, Mary Mahoney store on Worth Avenue has offered to donate 25% of proceeds from orders placed to Hope for Depression.  “This will make it a whole lot easier for locals to purchase on the spot,” announced Graham Gaspard.  The offer is valid through January 27th, the day of the marathon.

These orders can only be placed personally by calling Mary Mahoney at 561.655.8288

Audrey Gruss founded HDRF in April 2006 in memory of her mother Hope, who struggled with clinical depression. Today, HDRF is the leading nonprofit organization focused solely on depression research.  Over 350 million people annually struggle with depression globally, but despite its prevalence, depression is still misunderstood, underfunded and under-researched. The mission of the HDRF is to fund cutting-edge neuroscience research into the origins, medical diagnosis, new treatments, and prevention of depression and its related mood disorders, including bipolar disorder, postpartum depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorder and suicide. To date, HDRF has provided more than $30-million through over 125 grants for accelerated breakthrough depression research that promises to lead to new and better medications and treatments.

Stubbs and Wootton keeps up the Merry Pace

By Maribel Alvarez

So for us avid Stubbs collectors, this is the one pair we have to add to our collection.  A no-brainer!  You don’t have to don an ugly red sweater to show you are in on the Christmas spirit, slip on these Holiday Stubbs and keep your merry spirit chic!

As far as I can remember, last minute shopping always became a problem for me. Trying to find the personal gift with so little time.  But then my daughter would remind me “Go Stubbs!” I found I would save myself a last minute anxiety attack by asking the question “Is there anyone on my list who wouldn’t LOVE a pair of Stubbs to add to their collection?”  If so, I haven’t met that person yet…

A Family Affair

I adopted Stubbs as the treat I would offer myself for years to come. My family followed suit.   My children grew up respecting the brand so much the palm tree needlework embroidery became my daughter’s choice for her groom and wedding party at her St. Barth’s wedding; the velvet slippers were my son’s choice for his black tie ensemble and my late boyfriend joined all the men in my family requesting ‘a new pair of Stubbs’ every holiday.

Personalized Gifting

The beauty about this ever so chic timeless gift is you don’t have to special order a ‘theme’.  The perfect theme is probably there, but if you do want to customize, you can do that too!

The Holiday Slippers are a no-brainer for the partying friend.

Capri’s Blue Campanella, an iconic bell brings good hues

By Christian Sims

This winter the Holiday Blues take on a whole new meaning. A symbol for peace, the color blue has the power to transform and put the mind at ease. It also has the power to take us far away. Whether it be the blue waters, skies or grotto, something about the vivid tone has us dreaming of the Isle of Capri.

Born out of Capri is Chantecler. Known for their timeless elegance, Chantecler is renown for their treasured Campanella charms. Featured above is the iconic Chantecler Campanella. The Campanelle’s rich history began with a legend that says its beautiful chime grants wishes to all who hear it. Ever since, it’s been a precious jewel for all who visit the island and a lovely creative influence for Chantecler. The 18K gold charm and sapphire Campanella charm was my favorite Holiday Blue pick!

The Campanella became a must-have jewel for all the international Divas and princesses who chose the Blue Island a their perfect getaway.  International travelers who get to Capri and, like everyone, fall in love with it still treasure this small token of happiness. Crafted in precious stones pavé settings, in gold and diamonds, in hard and semi-precious stones, the Campanelle are small goldsmith’s masterpieces to be worn and collected, for a new look every day. These iconic treasures are symbolic and represent peace and joy to all who hear their pleasing ring.

For those who appreciate the meaning behind Chantecler pieces, but looking to spend under $1500, Hamilton offers one of a kind Chantecler pieces, such as the Anima 70 Turquoise Bracelet, a delicate accent designed to celebrate the brand’s iconic colors and namesake.

Chantecler Anima Turquoise Bracelet

Give the gift of joy and peace with a Chantecler gift, a favorite of Palm Beachers  Whether it’s earrings, charms, bracelets or pendants, their iconic pieces and colorful hues radiate the same unique beauty that have so many flocking to Capri’s gorgeous landscape. Gifting Karma or Wishing on a Star

By Maribel Alvarez

Karma has been a big word in my vocabulary and a constant in my mind since my recent trip to Laos and Bhutan. So I can’t tell you how thrilled I was to find the perfect gifts for the dozen girlfriends in my life when I popped in to my favorite one-stop-Christmas-Shop destination. Inspired by the authentic Buddhist prayer beads, Sequin’s Color Karma Collection features semi-precious colored stones that represent qualities and moods we all experience or strive for, such as warding off bad vibes and keeping up the positive energy.

Whereas I would normally spend hours choosing which friend would prefer a classic Chanel-like necklace versus a Grecian style earring, this time all that was required was choosing the right color! Over a dozen to choose from!  Bracelets start at $48 for a group of four and necklaces at $98.

For those who have faith in their lucky stars, check out the Star Maps Collection endorsed by Susan Miller of Astrology Zone.  Another beautiful holiday gift with a personal touch and special meaning, the ‘The Star Maps Collection illustrates the twelve astrological signs with beautifully detailed interpretations of constellations and zodiac symbols. Each is 22k antique gold or silver-dipped and cast from an original Sequin illustration.  Each sign offers a beautifully diversified selection of necklaces, bracelets and charms starting as low as $38 and up to $98.

Cynthia Rowley, My Preferred Last Minute Go To For One-Stop Shopping

By Brandy Guthrie

No matter how prepared I think I may be when it comes to my holiday shopping, there’s always that one gift or two that I somehow missed or forgot. I know I can count on Cynthia Rowley at The Royal Poinciana Plaza in Palm Beach to find the perfect gifts immediately and more importantly, quickly. Let’s face it, time is of the essence, especially at this time of the year!

Take a look at my top 3 favorite CR last minute gifts here:

For the Hostess with the Mostest:

Everyone loves receiving candles, and they can be gifted any time of year. I like to stock-up during the Holiday’s and this year, a new scent caught my attention at Cynthia Rowley. This candle was created in collaboration with Brooklyn-based Apotheke and it smells just as lovely as it looks with its amber rising fragrance. What’s even better is you don’t have to know your recipient’s astrological sign because it represents every symbol of the Zodiac.

  ZODIAC CANDLE $48.00

For the Beach Lover Who Loves to Match Her Little One:

I am always a complete sucker for gifting a matching pair of mother and daughter outfits because you aren’t just giving a delightful keepsake present, you’re giving an heirloom gift that’s set to conjure plenty of warm holiday mother, daughter memories. They can pair this with some espadrille neoprene water shoes and to the beach they will splish and splash, all with style!

PEACH COMBO COLORBLOCK WETSUIT $265.00

For The Chic Booze Connoisseur:

Necessity is the mother of invention…

This year, my perfect go-to party accessory to give and to wear myself isn’t a sparkly clutch or a pair of satin high heels, it’s this baby. Why not buy a mini-bottle of your friend’s favorite nip of choice to accompany it, wrap them both up, and instantly banish the boringness from the gajillion Christmas fiestas on their dance card in December?

GOLD FLASK BANGLE $365.00

And that’s a wrap on this year’s gift guide! (You didn’t expect me to not make that pun, did you?) Happy Holidays!

Mr. Brainwash continues to be highlight of Art Miami

Last year Mr. Brainwash painted Contessa Gallery’s booth causing quite a stir, this year Contessa’s Mr. Brainwash caused a media frenzy. The solo exhibit was highlighted on CBS Evening News and Miami Herald.

Mr. Brainwash (born Thierry Guetta in 1966) began his artistic career over 17 years ago documenting the underground world of street artists. Eventually this endeavor introduced him to Banksy, who is arguably the most anonymous and famous street artist living today. With the encouragement of Banksy, Guetta began creating his own street art.

In 2008, Mr. Brainwash produced an explosive first solo show, Life is Beautiful. The epic display hundreds of breakthrough works revolutionized the art scene not only in Los Angeles, where the show was held, but worldwide. This phenomenal exhibition skyrocketed Mr. Brainwash’s popularity. His artistic evolution is chronicled in the Academy Award nominated documentary, Exit Through the Gift Shop, coincidently directed by Banksy. Known for his stylistic combination of pop and street art, Guetta creates his works by brilliantly fusing together historical pop imagery with contemporary cultural iconography. This year, the special exhibition showcased energetic and never before seen works by Mr. Brainwash at Art Miami which employed neon light bulbs, paper collages, broken vinyl records, metal and fiberglass.
