Prince Michel de Yougoslavie
Exhibit at Coe + Co Photography Gallery

Prince Michel de Yougoslavie American Début following exhibits throughout Europe and Asia

By Maribel Alvarez

I can’t express how thrilled I am to be organizing an exhibition for my old friend and business partner,  Prince Michel de Yougoslavie  who will be returning to his old stomping grounds with a selection of his works, appropriately named ‘People and Places’.    After traveling the globe with his body of photography, exhibiting at museums and galleries in St. Petersburg, Belgrade, Geneva, and Paris, and Seoul where he was guest of honor at the Hangaram Design Museum Center, Michel will make his U.S debut at Coe + Co Photography Gallery  in Palm Beach.  Michel will be on-site at the gallery from January 2nd to January 6th to meet with old friends as well as interested collectors.  His collection will be featured alongside renowned photographers David Burdeny, Steve McCurry, Kirsty Mitchell, Norman Parkinson, Tyler Shields, and Nathan Coe.

PALM BEACH ROOTS

Prince Michel resided in Palm Beach for 15 years, as a real estate broker for Sotheby’s International Realty, holding the record for the largest single home sale on the island in 1984. He also vacationed here with his parents for years. “Palm Beach holds my affection. I have many friends here, and the culture of philanthropy and the arts has grown exponentially. I first started coming here in 1980, and while much has changed, its best qualities have remained the same,” said Prince Michel in a recent interview.

A PERSONAL PIVOT BECOMES A PROFESSION
Prince Michel’s career has included tenure in financial services, as well. While professionally fulfilled a few years back, he engaged a personal coach to help him lead a more abundant life. The coach made two suggestions. First, carve one to two hours a day just for you. And second, in that time, develop an interest or hobby not related to your work. He settled on photography, purchased a Leica camera, and starting shooting. Self-taught, he became hooked and dedicated to this new interest. From there, he continued to develop his skills and his work became embraced by Boomer segment art buyers — in particular, photos in his native country and the people and region where he was raised. He had an immediate affinity for the quality of light in that area, which is apparent in each photo.
Self-taught, he got traction from interested parties. Coutts Private Bank commissioned him to create a one year exhibition based the four seasons. He was also granted a show with renowned Yugoslav feature film director, Emir Kusturica. He is the recipient of numerous art prizes, including one from the Art Monaco Festival. He was even commissioned to produce a coffee table book, a collection of his published works.

ABOUT NATHAN COE and COE + CO PHOTOGRAPHY GALLERY

Nathan Coe has emerged as a photographer whose appreciation for landscapes and the human form is celebrated, separately and together, in his work. He takes ‘old school’ inspiration from visual arts icons and melds it into his present-day limited edition and commission photos, found in top international collections. His own aesthetic is harmony, which he visualizes in the outdoors and the body. Renowned for his double exposure pieces, which layer the female form on landscapes; his work is both elegant and captivating. His range includes other photographic forms, as well. He and his business partner, art dealer Ron Cavalier, opened Coe +  Coe Gallery this past October, 2019.
