Canfora K Sandals

Following in Jackie O’s Fab Footsteps

Our beloved first lady knew a thing or two about sartorial diplomacy—one has to be firm on fashion, but not to the exclusion of comfort. Enter the tried and true Canfora Sandals. They embody just about everything I’ve loved since I was a girl – Italy (hello, motherland!), true craftsmanship and beach chic!

The “K” sandal, named after Jackie O, consists of a webbed design of silver interlocking chains: They spoke to me the minute I walked into Via Coquina, located in Worth Avenue’s enchanting Via Mizner. It’s like they were saying, in a sultry Mediterranean accent, “Hollis, Buy Me!”  I slipped them on with a pair of jeans and they instantly created a more elevated look. From a casual dressed down look to a night out on Palm Beach, these shoes have never steered me wrong.  Plus, each style is entirely hand sewn on the isle of Capri from the finest Italian leather.

Thank goodness for Jackie O’s trip to Capri in 1964 when she just had to have themLittle did she know that she was about to make a sandal the topic of international relations!

Star Light, Star Bright

The turquoise Florida waters, the Palm Beach blue skies, these Katerina Psoma Eva Bead Dangle hand-crafted earrings… Are we noticing a pattern here? I have a thing for BLUE!  Last week I happened to be wearing said color shopping through Via Coquina at Via Mizner when I stumbled upon these glamorous fashion jewels. I popped them on — and Voilà– I instantly felt like a goddess! The stars on my earlobes popped out at me as I admired them in the mirror and the turquoise beads dangled from my ears so daintily. While I know it’s the holidays, and I should be shopping for others, I had to have them for myself!

Inspired by her Greek heritage and contemporary design aesthetics, Katerina Psoma masterfully combines rare, fine and vintage treasures to create exceptional pieces.    Her collections, both cosmopolitan and retro, are internationally beloved.  And the best part – they are super lightweight. Not looking to keep these blues away anytime soon!

A Slice of Amalfi

One thing you may have learned while reading this blog post is that I have Italian roots. La mia famiglia e del Lazio!

I learned at a very young age how to love (and enjoy) a good Italian meal, so I consider myself a tough critic when it comes to spaghetti and meatballs. However, I’m happy to share my experience at Pizza Al Fresco was exceptional and every bit of a 10 out of 10! The wood-fired Margherita Pizza (my ultimate go-to) was crispy and splashed with tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil and truly melted in my mouth.

Javier Gonzalez’s with his welcoming smile at Pizza al Fresco

This Palm Beach gem features authentic Neopolitan-style pizzas with a variety of fresh toppings and ingredients. It’s beautiful private courtyard for “al fresco” dining reminds me of rambling along the Amalfi Coast. The best part of Pizza al Fresco? its beloved manager, Javier Gonzalez!  Always smiling and welcoming, Javier and his team make dining at Pizza al Fresco a delightful experience!

I sipped on an Apérol Spritz and listened to birds chirping while savoring my meal. Tutto buono!
