Coe and Co Photography Gallery will celebrate the opening of the Palm Beach Contemporary Exhibit Thursday, March 5th, from 6-8 pm. A highlight of the evening will be the unveiling new works recently added to Nathan Coe’s Palm Beach Series. Other featured artists include David Burdeny , Tyler Shields, and Dean West. The exhibit will run through March 18th.
ABOUT THE FEATURED ARTISTS
In his Palm Beach Series, Nathan Coe created a unique and timeless series of modern-day stylistic art nudes in and around Palm Beach. The resulting works are voyeuristic and highly stylized but maintain a pinch of innocence and softness. These instant classics hark back to yesteryear. Abandoned alligator parks, classic laundromats and iconic hotels assume a new identity in this limited-edition series.
David Burdeny graduated with a Masters in Architecture and Interior Design and spent the early part of his career practicing in his field before establishing himself as a photographer. Burdeny translates his intimate appreciation for the structure, details and metaphorical value of space into sublime observations on how the contemporary world is still pregnant with mystery and potential.
Tyler Shields, Rolls Royce,
c-print, 48 x 48 in
Dean West, Palm Springs #4 ,
c-print, 56 1/5 x 64 in
Tyler Shields’ work derives from a unique history directing music videos and working with the legendary skateboarding icon Tony Hawk. Shields has produced images that play with notions of the gaze, power structures, hyper-realism, iconoclastic-tendencies and cinematographic practice. Sotheby’s called Shields “the Andy Warhol of his generation”. He is a screenwriter and music video director whose camera is part voyeur, part provocateur.
Dean West is best known for intricate, highly staged photos that take everyday occurrences over the edge of reality. Extraordinary in their tonal range, digital clarity, and artistic vision, West’s meticulously choreographed scenes, character studies, and atmospheric landscapes powerfully yet synthetically link needs to desires and documentation to invention.
