White Album of the Hamptons
By Maribel Alvarez
Coe + Co Gallery March 25- March 27
White out your calendars! After a year delay due to COVID, the much anticipated ‘White Album of the Hamptons’ will be unveiled during a pre-book launch in Palm Beach! My cherished pal, old partner in crime and uber-talented photographer, Christophe von Hohenberg is bringing a limited number of his long anticipated books The White Album of the Hamptons (G Editions;May 25,2021) and unveiling some previously unseen photographs at Coe + Co Photography Gallery, located at 217 Royal Poinciana Way in Palm Beach. The exhibit opens March 25th and Christophe will be greeting friends and signing books daily from 2 to 6 pm through Saturday March 27th and by appointment. (561.249.1664). (Limited number of books will be available at this pre-launch)
“I’m thrilled we’ve been chosen to be the ones offering a peek of the book to friends and family before its official launch in April,” said Nathan Coe, owner of Coe + Co Photography Gallery.
Award-winning photographer Christophe von Hohenberg began taking photos at the young age of fourteen. He was inspired by his stepfather, the photographer Wendy Hilty, who presented Christophe with his first camera, a Rolleiflex Twin Lens 2.8. These days, he sets his sights on capturing the magic of a storied New York coastline.
Renowned author, Jay McInerney states in the foreword of The White Album of the Hamptons “The ghostly figures on the sand, silhouetted against the surf and the sky, might be famous New Yorkers, but their individuating characteristics have been bleached away by the sun and the figurative squint of the observer. (Although curiously, the dogs seem to have personalities.) The humans have become anonymous and diminished against the overwhelming backdrop of the ocean. These images are by turns soothing, and haunting and yet somehow familiar.”
About Duke Nelson Memorial Scholarship
Duke Nelson Memorial Scholarship honors individuals who have faced challenges in their lives and have, through the strength of their character and their hearts’ passion, turned them into opportunities to grow, inspire, teach, care for, and lead those around them. The endowment scholarship has been established by the family and friends of Duke Nelson to be awarded to a financially disadvantaged student who is pursuing a career in music, film, videography, and/or photography. Dukins ‘Duke’ was a beloved Alumni (14′) and had an innate desire for success outside of what is perceived as possible in one’s community. Duke would be honored that his scholarship will help others with a similar passion. Each year, the endowment will award up to $2,500 for a college, conservatory, summer institute, or university scholarship to honor the legacy of “Duke.” https://www.dukenelsonmemorialscholarship.org/
