J’da, 3 must have Turkish imports from this new Palm Beach boutique
By Brandy Guthrie
Happy 2020 to all! I guess my resolution to shop a little less will be put on hold until next year because I cannot remember the last time so many new stores opened in Palm Beach. Lucky for me, my first stop was J’da, housing an array of Turkish clothing, accessories, glassware and coffee (!) curated by owner Ceyda Avunduk. This store is an absolute paradise for any and all seekers of unique, forward thinking looks. Back to resolutions—I have decided this year is all about self-care, so this list of favorites is strictly for me. No sharing!
For Letting it go to My Head
Have you noticed that headbands are having their moment? I’ve managed to avoid hopping on the train until getting a peek at these pearl strand headbands. The soft, sheen sateen combined with the pearl puts an elegant twist on a typically bland accessory. There are plenty of colors to choose from and absolutely no wrong way to be worn.
For Looking Bright while Staying Warm
Crafted by hand in Istanbul, this colorful poncho is made of luxurious silk and felted wool, two of the most durable materials a closet could hope for. This will keep me warm without weighing me down while I happily throw my cardigans into the fire pit. Warning: be prepared for strangers to ask where they can find one.
For Shelling Out while Ringing it In
Okay, okay, if this was not the greatest thing I’ve ever put my hands on I’d be much more apologetic about the pun. Seriously though, do you see this? It’s a purse, in the shape of a shell, embellished with a hand’s worth of rings in lieu of a strap or handle. This accessory appeals to my inner rebel without all the messy desperation and angst. And the answer is yes—the rings double as brass knuckles. Consider yourself warned.
