ALTIMA’S BOARDING PASS SERIES

Laura Reece’s AUTUMN PLAYLIST

While we love our paradise under the palms, sometimes the expat in us starts missing the change of leaves and the brisk breezes of fall. Where to go? Altima asked Laura Reece of Reece Worldwide Travel  in Palm Beach to highlight the best vacation spots depending on just how much time we have to get lost in the season’s colorscape.

Long Weekend Jaunt:

In south Florida we eagerly welcome Fall with less humidity and readily say adieu to hurricane season.  During this time, we send many clients to the Caribbean for relaxing island vacations. Jumby Bay in Antigua, accessible by direct flight from Miami airport is one of our favorites. This luxe, all-inclusive beach resort offers suites, villas and private homes with every convenience at your fingertips. Taittinger is the house champagne, and clients enjoy private sailing adventures, Tata Harper Spa experiences, and a weekly “White Night” beach BBQ.  As of October 1, visitors to Antigua must be fully vaccinated and present a negative PCR COVID test for entry.

Week Refresher Trip:

For week-long vacations, especially for families and large groups, we recommend The Resort at Paws Up in Greenough, Montana.  Sleep in a secluded Tree Haus or a Safari-Style tent for the ultimate glamping experience complete with a Tent Butler, or rent a luxury home and have your own “Big Chill” week with friends.  The Resort and Ranch offer plenty to do including fly-fishing, horseback riding, shooting and a plethora of sports including something called “Cow Croquet.” Fly round-trip from Ft Lauderdale with a stop in Denver to Missoula airport.

Month Long Escapade:

If you have the luxury of time and an appetite for adventure, an international adventure can be planned that includes a cruise on a small ship such as Windstar.  With just 148 to 342 guests per voyage, tall sails, and first-class service, you will feel like you are on your own private yacht. Choose an 8 to 18-day cruise departing from Athens, and explore lesser known ports, Greek ruins, visit the pyramids in Egypt, and float in the Dead Sea, all with unpacking once in your well-appointed cabin.  After disembarkation, spend a week or two in Spain completing your epic vacation.  Savor the exceptional architecture of Antoni Gaudi in Barcelona, Gehry’s mastermind Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and the Prado Museum in Madrid. Windstar requires all passengers to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
